Bubbles the Chimp Costume to be Sold

If you do not know who Bubbles the chimp was, well then maybe you should learn a little more about Michael Jackson. Bubbles was a pet chimp that MJ got back in his early days and it really become an icon of his fame. Well on December 3rd and 4th there will be an auction and it will include a costume that was worn by Bubbles. There will also be a black jacket that the king of pop wore to a 1996 Nelson Mandela birthday party. Also set to sell is a signed red leather jacket from his famous, “Beat It” along with one of his famous gloves.

The Andy Warhol Michael Jackson Portraits

Andy Warhol was a legendary painter and artist who is known for his many types of art, was lucky enough to cross paths with the great Michael Jackson. In 1984, some of that magic came to life on canvas.

In Andy’s diary he talks about his moments with the king of pop.

March 7, 1984: I finished the Michael Jackson cover. I didn’t like it but the office kids did. Then the Time people came down to see it, about forty of them. And they stood around saying that it should increase newsstand sales. . . . Then later the Time guy called me . . . and said they were going to use it. I think the yellow one. And I told him to cross his fingers that it wouldn’t get bumped on Saturday and he said he would.

March 12, 1984: Time came out and the Jackson cover made it, it didn’t get bumped. And the article inside was crazy. It had them asking if he was going to get a sex-change operation and he said no. The cover should have had more blue. I gave them some in the style of the Fonda cover I did for Time once, but they wanted this style.

In August of 2009 the portrait went on auction at the Vered Gallery in East Hampton and was sold for more than $1 million. The famous portraits depict MJ in his red leather jacket from the “Thriller” video in which he went on to win eight Grammy’s for back in 1984.

China Auction Nets Big Money For MJ

A recent auction in China netted some big money for some of Michael Jackson’s most famous items. Some of these items were a black studded glove, one his Beat It jackets and a basketball signed by him and Michael Jordan.

This auction which was the biggest yet to take place in Asia hosted a number of other items by famous people as well. Bruce Lee and Marilyn Monroe were just a few of those other famous people that had some of their most prize possessions auctioned off.

The glove which he wore in 1995 for a video shoot brought in $180,000. A basketball that was signed by him and the famous Michael Jordan went for another $245,000, while the jacket brought in $156,000.

Michael Jackson’s Wild Wild West

When most people think of MJ they don’t normally think of him as being a cowboy, but western style life and clothing actually played many roles in his life and career. The Autry Museum in Los Angeles has an exhibit featuring many of Michael Jackson’s great western themed clothing and accessories.

There are many items on display for visitors and fans to check out including his famous Steel Cowboy Boots, Western Style Belt and Buckle, and his Black Fedora Hat. In many of Jackson’s videos and life you can find instances where you can see some western influence that you might not have noticed before.

Michael Jackson Monument Unveiled in Gary, Indiana

On June 25th of 2010 the city of Gary, Indiana unveiled a monument in honor the late Michael Jackson. This 8 foot, 5,000 lb granite monument will be sure to attract fans from across the World. The monument was actually a donation from a local company and the value of the item is around $26,000.

On the back side of the monument the words are etched from the Michael Jackson song, “Gone Too Soon”. Michael actually wrote that song for Ryan White and Indiana native who passed away from AIDS some time ago.

National Museum of Dance MJ Tribute Exhibit

National Museum of Dance Honors Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson became the 44th dancer to be inducted into the National Museum of Dance Hall of Fame. On August 15th MJ was officially inducted and was the first dancer from pop and rock ‘n’ roll to have such an honor.

A group of MJ Fans were planning on going big for the King of Pop by raising money for an entire garden that would stand for his tribute. The garden would be permanent and the size would depend on the amount of money the group could raise.

Tickets for the hall of fame induction were running pretty steep and were costing around $300 each.

Michael Jackson Museum Won’t Push Out Charter School

The proposed Jackson Family Center and the home of the Michael Jackons Museum will not push out the Garly Lighthouse Charter School. Located near the South Gleason Golf Course, the school sits on the same area of land that was promised to the Jackson Family. According to City Hall, the land agreement should have stipulated 25 acres instead of 30, leaving room for the charter school.

The Jackson Family Foundation is planning to build a $300 million museum and event center for the late Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson Museum Charging Ahead

Michael Jackson visited Gary, Indiana in 2003 to talk about the museum, but there wasn’t any progress until the singer passed away on June 25th 2009. Now the project seems to be charging ahead and construction could begin next year and has a cost of nearly $300 million. This museum is expected to bring thousands of jobs and draw millions of people. The project is being funded by private investors and donations.

Jackson Museum Moving Foward in Gary, Indiana

Gary, Indiana-Mayor Rudy Clay and members of the Jackson Family Foundation including Joe Jackson, will hold a Press Conference on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 to announce a major move forward in his quest for the construction of a Jackson Family Museum and a Michael Jackson Performing Arts Center in the city of Gary.

The Press Conference is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Genesis Convention Center located at One Genesis Center Plaza (5th and Broadway) in downtown Gary.

Mayor Clay, other city officials and the Jackson Family Foundation have been working for months on the Jackson project that has the potential to bring 500,000 to 750,000 visitors to Gary and an annual income of 100 to 150 million dollars to the community. In addition, it is projected that the project will generate hundreds of construction jobs and thousands of full-time jobs for the community when the project is completed.

On the heels of the death of Michael Jackson last year, the world’s greatest entertainer, thousands of people have continued to travel to Gary, Indiana from all over the world to see the Jackson house at 2300 Jackson Street.

Mayor Clay has said this development will be one of the world’s most favored destination points.
